Montessori Elementary Teacher Education in partnership with Seacoast Center for Education

Earn a graduate degree by earning credits for your Elementary I and/or Elementary II Montessori program. If you are admitted into PSU’s graduate program and hold an AMS or MACTE-accredited certificate validated through Seacoast Center you may qualify for graduate credit. Tuition Information

Graduate credit is available to Montessori certificate holders at a rate of $300 for fifteen credits, a significant discount from standard tuition costs. Regular tuition rates apply for the balance of your coursework.

Program of Study

Master’s Core Component – 9 credits

ED 5000 Social Behavior in a Diverse Society 3

- OR -

ED 5005 Social Psychology and Mythology across Cultures 3

ED 5010 Philosophy, Ethics, and Education 3

ED 5030 Research Design - 3

Note: The core courses can be taken online or transferred from an accredited institution.

Specialization Component – 21 credits

The Specialization component is fulfilled by transferring 15 credits of your Montessori training and taking two additional electives.

Capstone Experience – 3 credits

ED 6900 Graduate Capstone Project 3

Total for self-designed MEd in Elementary Education, Montessori 33 credits

CAGS Core Component – 18 credits

EP 7020 Collaborative Leadership

EP 7030 Transforming the Educational Agenda

EP 7040 Planning in Education and Human Services

EP 7070 Contemporary Social Trends

Specialization Component – 15 credits

Total for CAGS in Educational Leadership, self designed, Montessori 33 credits

 

Earn Graduate Credit for your Montessori certificate

1.    You must be admitted into a PSU graduate program.

2.    Contact Kate Coltin at the Seacoast Center (katecoltin.seacoast@gmail.com) for a transcript evaluation fees and procedures

3.    Complete the Plymouth State partnership registration form (this should have a hotlink to the form.).

4.    Return the Plymouth State registration form and full payment along with:

·         A copy of your Montessori transcripts and the Seacoast evaluation

      Once your paperwork has been received, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to you.
